Según acabo de leer en El Periódico de Catalunya, en la presentación oficial de la nueva gira de King Crimson, Robert Fripp ha anuncia que Bill Rieflin se ausentará de nuevo por asuntos familiares y su lugar será asumido por Theo Travis.
Desde mi punto de vista, una gran noticia.

Llevo desde 2014 esperando que Theo Travis se vincule a King Crimson, espero que le hagan un "Jeremy Stacey" cuando vuelva Bill Rieflin y que King Crimson se convierta en un noneto.

En principio se incorpora como teclista, pero estaría muy bien que también soplase.

Saxophonist Theo Travis will be joining King Crimson on keyboards for this year’s performances. Speaking at a press event held in London yesterday to celebrate this year’s 50th-anniversary, Robert Fripp revealed that Bill will be taking time out to attend to family matters. Travis, who many will know through his work in Soft Machine and of course through Travis & Fripp, will be providing keyboards and fairy dusting and has already begun rehearsal sessions with Jakko Jakszyk who was also present at yesterday’s event held in the October Gallery, Holborn.
Writing on his Facebook page Theo comments, "Whilst I have toured with Robert Fripp before in the Travis & Fripp duo and we have actually released five albums now, this is the first time I will have had anything to do with the mighty King Crimson - apart from loving their music for 30 years! The current line-up of the band is incredible and features some of my very favourite musicians – Robert of course, plus Tony Levin on bass, Jakko Jakszyk on guitar and vocals, Pat Mastelotto on drums, Jeremy Stacy on drums and keyboards, Gavin Harrison on drums (yes – 3 drummers!) and one of my all-time musical heroes the wonderful Mel Collins on saxes and flute. It will be a particular thrill for me to hear Mel’s wonderful solos every night."

Parece que Theo Travis se retira y que King Crimson vuelve a ser septeto. Parece que nunca veré al octeto o al grupo con Bill Rieflin en directo.

Vaya. Yo también lo lamento.
Aunque supongo que la premura con que se había formulado todo no permitiría mucha adaptación de los temas.
Supongo que, como grupo, quizás les resulte más sencillo volver a una fórmula ya utilizada que adaptarse a un nuevo miembro (y a la inversa).

Supongo que la idea de suplir a Bill les ha superado... y la de incluir a Travis como Travis, dada la premura, era inviable.

Yo les he visto tanto con Rieflin como con Stacey... pero no como octeto con ambos a la vez. :(

Parece ser que tras tres días de ensayo todos los miembros del grupo llegaron a la misma conclusión, que Bill Rieflin era insustituible. Y fue Fripp quien se lo comunicó a Travis.
Ese verano Theo Travis giró con Soft Machine.
