JPDEUZAROCK - Darkness (Francia - 2024)

El día 9 de mayo se estrenó el nuevo trabajo del músico Jean-Philippe Garaudelle : desde su proyecto JPDEUZAROCK, Garaudelle edita ¨Darkness¨, conteniendo nada menos que 24 temas. Este artista es un multi-instrumentista francés al que conocí en 2016 a través de su album ¨The Sixth¨ y que comenté en el desaparecido Portal de Sinfomusic en aquel año (un buen disco). Realmente no había oído nada más de JPDEUZAROCK hasta este período en el que he tomado contacto con su última obra. Tal como entonces, se presenta con un disco instrumental de precioso prog melódico, con una estructura bastante particular en esta ocasión : todos los temas tienen una duración menor a los 3 minutos. Eso facilita su asimilación, pero no da tregua al oyente pasando rápidamente de uno a otro de manera continua. Sin dudas es un gran disco de Garaudelle, identificable al ciento por ciento por el sonido de su guitarra y sus punteos. Estará incluído en la lista de ¨Los mejores discos de 2024¨.

On May 9, the new work of musician Jean-Philippe Garaudelle was released : from his project JPDEUZAROCK, Garaudelle releases ¨Darkness¨, containing no less than 24 tracks. This artist is a French multi-instrumentalist whom I met in 2016 through his album ¨The Sixth¨ and that I commented on the disappeared Sinfomusic Portal in that year (a good album). I had not really heard anything else from JPDEUZAROCK until this period in which I have made contact with his latest work. As then, he presents himself with an instrumental album of beautiful melodic prog, with a quite particular structure this time : all the tracks are less than 3 minutes long. This facilitates their assimilation, but gives no respite to the listener, passing quickly from one to another in a continuous way. It is undoubtedly a great album by Garaudelle, one hundred percent identifiable by the sound of his guitar and his plucking. It will be included in the list of "The best albums of 2024".

Beth Gibbons - Lives Outground  (Inglaterra - 2024)

El 16 de mayo se estrenó el nuevo trabajo en solitario de la cantante inglesa Beth Gibbons. Esta artista es vocalista de la banda británica Portishead y ha cantado con diversos músicos a lo largo de su trayectoria. En esta ocasión su disco ¨Lives Outground¨ contiene 10 canciones de un muy personal indie-pop que por momentos se vuelve dark y atrapa al oyente con su compleja interpretación. Realmente un excelente álbum que no se agota fácilmente y donde se destaca la imaginación e inspiración de esta artista de cálida voz. Gran trabajo, muy recomendable.

On May 16, the new solo album by English singer Beth Gibbons was released. This artist is the lead singer of the British band Portishead and has sung with various musicians throughout her career. This time her album ¨Lives Outground¨ contains 10 songs of a very personal indie-pop that at times becomes dark and traps the listener with its complex interpretation. Truly an excellent album that is not easily exhausted and where the imagination and inspiration of this artist with a warm voice stands out. Great work, highly recommended

El bajista danés Jasper Høiby lanzará un nuevo trabajo este año, el día 31 de mayo. Junto a la pianista surcoreana Chaerin Im y al baterista neerlandés Jamie Peet estrenarán ¨Like Water¨, un larga duración con 11 temas. El trío de Hoibin se llama 3Elements y su música es una delicia. Ojalá pueda encontrarme con su álbum, una vez editado. Al final de la información, una canción adelanta el disco : Flying
