Ayer Magma dio su primer concierto del año en el Festival Roadburn holandés.
Un festival organizado por Mikael Akerfeldt, líder de Opeth. Esta es la opinión del propio Mikael sobre una de sus bandas favoritas: Magma
"My "arrogance" and "cockyness" seems well documented these days, and while it's not completely untrue I have a definite trust in Opeth's musical delivery I have accepted stage-defeat countless times. Playing with Morbid Angel in 1996 and playing alongside Magma in 2013 comes to mind. Magma's music is such an exhausting emotional rollercoaster I can't liken them to anything I've ever heard or seen before ever.
While the band takes the term jazz-rock to a new level, there' so much more to the story. I'm not sure the band themselves are aware of how much 'death metal' they have in their music. It's just downright evil sounding at times. Bizarre chord progressions, time signatures that make you vomit from confusion and an emotional musical delivery that puts virtually all other bands to shame.
Virtuosity disguised between thick layers of heavy rock and darkened jazz with the ghostlike chants of Stella Vander and company on top. It's just amazing!
I will be out in the crowd watching them with you guys. Don't come talk to me if I have a sinister look on my face because I'll be in my Magma-trance-bubble. It could get nasty."

Mi arrogancia y hombría parecen bien sustentada en la actualidad, y aunque no deja de ser cierto que tengo una confianza absoluta en la entrega musical de Opeth, en ocasiones, simplemente hay que aceptar la derrota. Me sucedió compartiendo escenario con Morbid Angel en el 96, y con Magma en el 2013. La música de Magma es una montaña rusa tan emocional como agotadora que no se puede comparar a nada que haya escuchado o visto antes alguna vez .
Cuando la banda lleva el término jazz-rock a un nuevo nivel, no hay mucha más historia. No estoy seguro de la banda en sí son conscientes de lo mucho de "death metal" que tiene su música. Es sólo que suena francamente endiablada. Progresiones de acordes raros, firmas de tiempo que te hacen vomitar de la confusión y una entrega musical emocional que deja prácticamente todas las demás bandas en vergüenza.
Virtuosismo disfrazado entre capas gruesas de heavy rock y jazz oscurecido con los cantos fantasmales de Stella Vander y compañía en las notas altas. ¡Es simplemente increíble!
Yo estaré en la multitud viéndolos con ustedes. No vengan a hablar conmigo si tengo una mirada siniestra en mi cara porque voy a estar en mi Magma-trance-burbuja. El tema se podría poner feo".

Tanto Akerfeldt como Wilson son magmáticos tardíos. Los que hemos sufrido ese enamoramiento sabemos de qué habla. :temblar:

Por cierto, ya que nadie lo dice el nombre, bien escrito, es Mikael Åkerfeldt.
Como ya habéis dicho, un testimonio impresionante. Åkerfeldt ha juntado algunas de sus bandas favoritas para Roadburn festival. Entre ellas estaban, aparte de Magma, Comus y Goblin.
