Fue practicado por bandas que comenzaron a surgir en los años 80, quienes reivindicaban los parámetros originales del rock sinfónico bajo un punto de vista más bien purista. A este nuevo movimiento se le conoce con el nombre de rock neoprogresivo (neo-prog en inglés), y sus miembros son herederos de la complejidad de Genesis o Yes, aunque con un sonido modernizado, el cual a veces se acerca al AOR e incluso a la New wave. Marillion fue y es el paradigma del neo-prog, junto a nombres también importantes como Pendragon o Arena.

In addition to numerous headlining shows, Iluvatar have played before progressive rock fans at bothProgScape 94 and 96 in Baltimore, one of New York City’s ProgNights in 96, ProgDay 96 in North Carolina, and ProgEast in Quebec Canada. They played to packed theaters in Buenos Aires, Argentina in September 1997, and performed in Mexicali Mexico at BajaProg 98, NEARfest 2000 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and RosFest 2009 in Philadelphia, PA.

On “From the Silence” Iluvatar consist of longtime members Glenn McLaughlin (vocals, percussion), Dennis Mullin (guitars), Jim Rezek (keyboards), Dean Morekas (bass, bass pedals, backing vocals), and Chris Mack (drums, percussion).

“We are pleased and excited to be a part of the 10T Records family of artists,” says Dean Morekas. “10T provides us with support and cutting edge distribution, unlike most conventional labels. After all this time, we are anxious to return to the progressive scene, enthusiastically partnered with 10T!”

“I have been a fan of Iluvatar since buying their first 2 CDs online back in the 90s,” says 10T Records president, Steve Carroll. “I couldn’t be more excited to have a hand in bringing their new material to fans, and to be able to make their amazing back catalog available again is really a highlight for 10T.”

Madre mía, qué recuerdos!!! Cuando me flipaba a base de neoprog y batallaba con esos grandes del progresivo sinfónico que me decían maldades respecto a mis entonces grupos favoritos...ayyyyy!!!
Tengo realmente mucha nostalgia de los conciertos de Pendragon, de aquellos discos que me daban vidilla en aquellos momentos. Ahora reconozco que no escucho nada de nada de neoprog, pero eso no significa que rompa una lanza a favor de aquellos, más o menos clones, copias o similares, que aportaron lo suyo a la historia del progresivo.
Miento...sí sigo escuchando a Marillion, pero quizá ahora más Hogart...

El neo prog siempre lo recordare como algo muy intenso a comienzos de la decada pasada cuando redescubri el prog, este estilo fue mi reentrada, he olvidado algunas bandas lamentablemente pero aun quedan otras vivas y coleando . :)

Para mi el Neo Prog, es perfecto cuando necesitas escuchar luego de tantas y tantas epopeyas sinfónicas, una canción con una duración más estándar en donde la unión de la melodía y la técnica crean una comunión perfecta...Pendragon, Arena, IQ, Pallas, Saga, Asia, Blue Mammoth, Quidam, Riverside, etc... :ok:
